The top of the slipcase has the authors names and the botton has a rorschach inkblot.

So, what you have here is basically an insanely expensive item, a monster that isn’t a faithful reproduction of the original issues nor offer any real upgrade or bonus – IMO this is a pointless version.

Great hard cover addition. I got this for my boyfriend and he teared up. He loved everything about it. It came well packaged and no damage whatsoever. This format, 12 slim hardcovers in a slip-case, beats Absolute Watchmen. Like the same format on the new edition of The Dark Knight Returns, it flat-out rocks for readability.

The anger over the oft-noted minor changes is unsettling – an outrage oft-reserved for so many of the world’s grand tragedies. Moore and Watchmen – will survive; that is what matters I highly doubt Mr. Moor or Mr. Gibbons weeps over this matter. Extras – one could even complain about their presence, that they rob the ‘magic,’ but so few do. Ah well, I mean no enmity to those who so shrilly despise this tinkering – those slim bindings of each book, well, it’s so pleasant.

Verified Purchase. The collector’s edition of ‘Watchmen’ includes a recolored version of the original graphic novel, as well as the ultimate cut of the film on Blu-Ray, the theatrical cut on DVD, and the complete motion comic on Blu-Ray.

The novel looks incredible, with more vibrant colors than the generic copies, and a wonderful cover. As for the film, I think it’s excellent. The ultimate cut consists of the director’s cut of the film, along with the inclusion of an animated version of the ‘Tales of the Black Freighter’ woven into the main story. As such, I can give this set the highest recommendation for fans of the graphic novel or those who liked the movie and want a more complete version of it. It’s a wonderful set.

This is the only edition of this movie you should own. The beautiful box opens to reveal the hardback graphic novel. Underneath is the 4 disc set. If you want to see how DC should have made super hero movies then this is the one. Nothing is held back, and it is not appropriate for young audiences. This is the way the novel reads and the run time reflects the intense attention to detail to truly tell the full story of the Watchmen.

Fantastic movie, beautiful box and worth every penny. Ok, in my opinion the only version of this movie you should see is the ‘ultimate edition’ version.

All the extra footage really turns this movie into an epic viewing experience. Dark, dramatic characters and storyline make this worth watching many times. It is quite violent and contains a pretty graphic rape scene so please be aware of that.

By far my favorite CBM, shipped surprisingly fast considering it was out of stock when I purchased. Luckily, placed a couple small strips of clear shipping tape on and you could barely see the issue. Overall happy with the purchase, have been waiting to watch the Ultimate Cut for a long time. One person found this helpful.

When I saw the original cut in the theaters, I liked it except for the “Halleleujah” scene ; most people didn’t share my opinion and I still considered the original graphic novel to be vastly superior, but I still liked it. A few years later I saw the Director’s Cut, which is three hours long; I thought this version was WAY better except for the “Halleleujah” scene and I began recommending it to people again.

Turns out the Ultimate Cut is by far my favorite version of this movie except for the “Halleleujah” scene : the scenes have enough time to breathe and revel in the period details; there’s legitimately poignant footage added I’m thinking of That Scene with Hollis ; and my regard for Patrick Wilson’s performance increases every time I watch this movie.

I still think the movie is distinctly inferior to the GN, but the 3. There are also bonus features which flesh out the world in interesting ways that aren’t as engaging as I’d hoped I’m thinking specifically of the faux Hollywood Tonight feature about the original Nite Owl book but are still worth watching if you’re curious to see everything this world has to offer.

And I still maintain that people should definitely do that, because good as the GN or not, this is still a movie people should definitely see. Awesome package! The movie is great, bluray disc is ok maybe a bit more compressed video due to the abnormal length , book is ok, the package is nice, but they shoud let the customers know that the code to the UV digital copy is expired in december and valid in USA only.

The joins of the box split perfectly in the middle and left the sides flapping around, unable to hold the contents. I feel this could easily be remedied with a careful application of some industrial glue, but that, of course, is not the point. The only item that is useless is the theatrical version of the film which is only supplied on DVD and is, as such, locked to R1.

The motion comic is fine and the ultimate cut of the film is, in my opinion, the best version of the feature. With the box in one piece, it makes a fantastic display piece and the overall layout of the contents is well displayed. Excellent package. Package was somewhat damaged in one corner exterior box but the inside items were prestine. On the movie: the ultimate cut include the Tails of the Black Freighter.

But overall this does not infringe on the overall quality of the picture and hence the 5 star rating. Besides the main movie and the extra disc of, well, extra’s there is also the motion comic added 5h25m in total. Also this is a good addition to the package, although it seems to me that this is best to be watched in different sessions pitty the makers choose the same person to do all the voices, even female ones.

Finally the package contains the comic book itself about pages, hard cover, with some additional pages at the end on the construction of the comic. The ‘main’ story is ‘interrupted’ at several moments whereby the story shifts to the Tail of the Black Freighter which is also presented as a cartoon instead of a live action movie – the reason why is also to be found somewhere else.
